Whatever group or belief
system humans may belong to, they all want to lead a life of peace and
happiness. Humans are trying very hard to achieve this by external means based
on material things and social connections. The vital resource required to
gather these material things is money in the modern world. Therefore, many
humans spend their lives preparing to be part of the skilled workforce,
profession, or business and then working hard in the chosen field to gather the
central resource called money. Using this resource, money, humans collect
material items in the form of vehicles, houses, and electric and electronic
gadgets for their physical comforts. Money also helps people build social
relationships with partners, friends, family, etc.
Material things created by
the advancement of science and technologies provide humans with the most
comfortable living. But humans are not living as the most joyful, peaceful, or
loving people. Humans believe that possessing more material goods will satisfy
their needs, and this, in turn, will increase their happiness.
When material goods do not
bring joy and peace, we resort to chemicals in the form of alcohol, drugs, and
even prescription drugs. Humans often consume these chemicals excessively, lose
their faculties, and lead a life unbecoming of humans. Even the animals do not
consume anything in excess that is against nature. Humans live in this manner,
and still, they boast of the higher standard of comforts and convenience in
their lives.
Humans cannot be in a
pleasant state without being in control of their thoughts, emotions, and life
energy. Unfortunately, outside factors are being allowed to influence their
nature, life, as we have not learned to have complete control over our body,
thoughts, emotions, and life energy.
How do we get into this
situation? The book Peace and happiness for Believers and
Unbelievers explains how we could get out of this situation in
simple language.
